There has been a settlement at Stoke Bruerne since ancient times and it was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1066. Today it is a charming and picturesque Northamptonshire village totally transformed by the arrival of the Grand Union Canal in the early 19th Century. Apart from its rich waterway heritage, Stoke Bruerne contains many stone and thatched cottages including this charming terrace of four attractive millworkers cottages originally built to house workers at the adjoining steam powered corn mill, which closed in 1913.
Nos. 3 and 4 Canalside are now available as comfortable self-catering holiday accomodation.
The corn mill was converted in 1963 and is now home to The Canal Museum.
